Phone Pals
A familiar voice.
A connection you both look forward to.
Whether you’re a Phone Pal or have a Phone Pal, it feels good to hear a familiar voice and know someone is glad you called.
AgeMaine’s Phone Pals program connects older adults and volunteers for friendly conversations, giving both people time to share, listen, and get to know each other.
“It’s nice to feel known, and to really be listened to. People don’t always feel listened to. For people who live alone, having someone to talk to really matters”
-Annie, Phone Pals volunteer
Find a Phone Pal
We match you with a trained volunteer who shares similar interests. With calls one to three times a week, you have time to get to know each other, pick up where you left off, and hear a familiar voice.
There’s no need to plan what to say. Your only commitment is to agree on a schedule to talk.

Be a Phone Pal
You don’t need a remarkable story or all the right words. Being a Phone Pal starts with making time for someone: asking about their week, sharing a little of yours, and listening as you get to know each other.
As a Phone Pal volunteer, you can:
Volunteer from home.
Have a flexible schedule and time commitment.
Get to know someone in your community.
Receive virtual training.
