A little help can make a real difference when you’re trying to make ends meet.
At AgeMaine, caring staff, interns, and volunteers help older neighbors navigate tax forms, understand what’s available, and access money they may not have known they could receive.
Today, we’re sending a special thank-you to volunteer Jill! Through her work with AgeMaine’s Money Minders and Medicare programs and as an AARP Tax-Aide volunteer, Jill helped 57 people access tax credits and $300 affordability payments this year.
Jill is part of a dedicated team. This year, our Resource Specialists, interns, and volunteers helped 105 people with property tax fairness and sales tax credits and completed 76 prior-year tax forms. Two clinics hosted with AARP Tax-Aide volunteers also helped 23 people receive – at least – $14,278 in affordability payments and state tax refunds.
Behind those numbers are people with a little more money for groceries, heat, and other everyday needs. Thank you, Jill, and everyone who helps make that possible. Your care makes our community a little stronger.
